MBAS Victorian & Tasmanian Blues Music Awards

MBAS “Victorian/Tasmanian Blues Music Awards” are held each year for blues artists who have a commercial CD released between 30th June the previous year and the 1st July in the present year.

  The winner of “Album of the Year” has the opportunity to have their CD sent to The Blues Foundation who also have a “Best self Produced CD” award coinciding with the IBC each year.

Female Artist of the Year 2010:
Stevie Paige, Album - Welcome To The Big Time, Song - Far From Here.

Male Artist of the Year 2010:
Lloyd Spiegel, Album - Tangled Brew, Song - For The Kill, 2nd - Dan Dinnen, 3rd - Jimi Hocking.

Producer of the Year 2010:
Lloyd Spiegel, Album - Tangled Brew, 2nd - Jimi Hocking, 3rd - Stevie Paige.

Song of the Year 2010:

Jimi Hocking, Album - Electric Mojo Machine, Song - Wasting Time In Georgia, 2nd - Jules Boult, 3rd - The Giants.

The Alan Stafford service award 2009: for service to Blues Music
Former PBS 106.7 FM presenter Hugo T Armstrong, who is more widely known as the operator of The Blues Train at Queenscliff.

Album of the Year 2010:
Jimi Hocking, Album - Electric Mojo Machine, 2nd - Dan Dinnen, 3rd - The Giants.

Judges of the Year 2010:
Each year the MBAS invites Victorians and Tasmanians to submit their Blues music CDs for judging by an independent panel. The 5 independent judges are all radio presenters, Derek Guille- ABC774, Helen Jennings - PBS 106.7 FM, Max Crawdaddy - RRR 102.7, Werner Martin - 3CR 855 & Bob Paterson(Doc Watson) 3BBB Ballarat.
