TRAMWRECK is relatively new to the rhythm and blues scene forming in mid 2017 by bass man Greg Trennery. Greg persuaded guitarist/singer/songwriter Garry Allen, who has an enormous catalogue of original songs with a strong emphasis on the blues, to join forces. Greg then recruited his long time rhythm partner Ian Bull on drums to complete the trio. Greg and Ian had spent a few years as the pumping force behind the Phil Para Band. and blues outfit The HouseWreckers.
TramWreck will passenger you through an entertaining style of blues, raw and primal, telling stories of love, loss and crimes of passion through to upbeat rhythm and blues. A tough, tight rhythm section provides a gritty canvas to a grinding bottleneck guitar, a powerful distinctive blues hollerer vocal, and unique finger-pick guitar style. A stand up, 2-drums drummer adds to the quirkiness and dynamics, giving the band a unique sound. Garry attributes songwriting influences and the band’s direction to the gut-felt monotonal masterpieces of Son House, together with the electric sounds of RL Burnside and The Black Keys.
TramWreck has released three EPs of original material, and a fourth EP and debut album is in the pipeline for this year. They performed at the inaugural 2019 St Kilda Blues Festival, and are now a regular feature on the local blues scene. Interstate local and regional radio stations are giving their EPs well-deserved radio airplay, and the strength of the recordings saw the band invited to perform at Blues On Broadbeach 2019 – quite a credential for a ‘new’ band.
