Youth In Blues Program

Youth in Blues is a FREE program initiative of the MBAS, and held annually since 2005, to encourage the next generation of Blues musicians. The Youth in Blues Program aims to help budding young Blues musicians and vocalists gain confidence and experience with the guidance and mentorship of established Blues musicians and music industry professionals.

The 2018 Youth in Blues Program expert music industry/professional musician mentors are : Wayne Jury (facilitator/co-ordinator) with Dan Nilsson (guitar), Sweet Felicia (bass & songwriting), Nardia Brancatisano (singing) and Robert B Dillon (recording & music industry).

Youth in Blues offers young people a place to show their musical talent in a fun, encouraging, supportive learning environment with like-minded Blues music supporters.

Participants from previous years are also welcome and encouraged to re-enrol and continue their learning.

The 2018 Youth In Blues Program starts in May!

5 x fortnightly 3hr Saturday afternoon sessions 1.00pm - 4.00pm
MAY: Sat 5th & Sat 19th
JUNE: Sat 2nd, Sat 16th & Sat 23rd (Showcase Final)
Venue: Flemington Bowls Club, cnr Smithfield & Racecourse Rds Flemington VIC 3031

Due to the structure of the YIB program it is a requirement of participation to attend ALL sessions.

Drum kit, electric keyboard, microphones and amplifiers (for bass/guitars/harp) are all supplied. Participants are only required to bring their own personal instruments (eg guitars).

Light snacks are provided for participants.
